"When I first saw Dr. Ahmadinia and surgery was recommended, I was pretty negative. My dad broke his  back when he was young and suffered throughout his life. Back surgery scared me. Besides, I am getting ready to attend the Transplant Games of America in Cleveland, Ohio, so I thought there was no way I could recover in time to go. I asked what would happen if I said no and was told it would likely get worse. I thought about it and agreed. Surgery was scheduled for May 11. I would have four weeks to recover. By the time I had the surgery, the pain in my back and legs had increased. After surgery, the pain was gone!  I even returned to work half days in three weeks! The only pain I have now is the healing from surgery, and it isn't very bad at all. In fact, I rarely need anything for it. I leave in one week for Cleveland. I can't begin to thank Dr. Ahmadinia enough. He is brilliant and a wonderful surgeon!" – Cheryl M.

"I was extremely nervous about any procedure that would need to be done to relieve my lower back and leg pain. Dr. Ahmadinia explained what would be done and it was not nearly as scary as what I had envisioned. The procedure was outpatient and my lower back pain was gone within a couple of days. So glad I did it! Thank you!!" – Nikki C.

"I have now have corrective surgery on two different times on two different spinal discs by Dr. Ahamadina. Both surgeries were handled in the most professional manner and with the knowledge and skill of a great doctor like Dr. Ahamadina the outcome turned out even better than expected. I cannot be happier with my results and the way the EOOC group handles themselves in regards to patient care  and yet they still maintain a fast response to patients that just amazes me. I have and will continue to recommend the EOOC group for any related needs to all my friends, family, or anyone who asks for my opinion." – Jeff S.

I now, after approximately 4 years, no longer take pain medication on a daily basis. I'm now 6 weeks post-op and can honestly say, I would do it again if I had it to do all over again." – Guy T.

"I could not be happier about the result of my recent surgery done by Dr. Ahmadinia. My legs no longer have pain and I feel like a new man. I feel I received the very best treatment possible. I was surprised that the main incision was on my left side and the ones in the back were very small. I had surgery on Monday and came home on Tuesday. Dr Ahmadinia listened to my concerns and explained the procedure very well. Thanks again Dr. Ahmadinia. I would recommend him to not only my friends but my family members as well." – Curtis W.

"I had suffered with a protruding disc between the L4 & L5 discs in my lower spine since 2002 when I fell off of a ladder. I had avoided back surgery at all costs because of negative feedback I had from friends and family that had endured back surgeries with not so great results. As time went by, with reduced or limited activity, due to constant back pain, the symptoms of my Spinal Stenosis got worse and worse. I was having severe pain radiating down the backs of one or both legs all the time, severe heel pain (like stepping on a nail) could not sleep and was beginning to have trouble walking and standing up straight, as well as bladder and bowel issues. After multiple steroid injections (that only provided temporary relief) I realized I was going to have to do something soon because my quality of life was rapidly diminishing with no end in sight. I did my homework when I started thinking about back surgery and knew that minimally invasive surgery was the only surgery I would consider. I had several places turn me down stating "the damage was too severe" to qualify for minimally invasive surgery, but I remained steadfast in the fact that I did not want spinal fusion surgery. After speaking to Dr. Ahmadinia, I knew he understood exactly what I needed. The protrusion was causing the nerves to be crowded and I just needed that area cleaned out to relieve the pressure, therefore relieving the symptoms. I finally allowed him to operate and I felt immediate relief the very next day. I got a tiny incision (less than 2 inches) I returned to work in 6 weeks and after 12 weeks I have no restrictions. I still feel a little bit of back pain due to degenerative arthritis, but it is SO much better than what I was dealing with it is like a whole new lease on life! I can move like normal again, I have lost weight and feel great! If you are hesitant to make the surgery decision because of fear, I would highly recommend you give Dr. Ahmadinia and this procedure a try, life is too short to suffer!" – Christine M.

"Although I am only two weeks into physical therapy following my lumbar spinal fusion, I would like to provide a ray of hope to those considering surgery. Five months ago, I was in a considerable amount of pain and my normal life activities were severely limited due to the situation. The thought of surgery made me extremely nervous, but I really didn't think I had an option if I wanted to resume anything close to a normal life. Dr. Ahmadinia listened to my issues, did not rush me, but did give a very good explanation of my condition and the consequences of both operating and not operating. Although extremely nervous, I chose the surgery. When I awoke after my operation, the pain I had experienced before was gone. Afterwards, I followed all directions with wearing a back brace and back stimulator. The weeks after surgery are not a lot of fun, but I am now feeling so much better and my life is returning to normal. I appreciate all that Dr. Ahmadinia and his team have done for me." - G.

"I am a 58 year old guy with a very active lifestyle, both athletically and working outdoors on our urban farm (even though I'm an office guy during the week). My back pain began back in late December, and at first, I thought I had just 'tweaked' it a bit doing a little paint job that involved stooping and bending. I initially treated the pain with ice/heat and stretching to help get rid of it, and for a couple of weeks, it didn't get any worse.. but it also didn't get any better! Then one morning in mid-January, I rolled over to get out of bed and when I stood up, the pain had left the lower back and was now fully engaged in my left hip, extending down the back of my leg and wrapping around to the shin area, and finally ending up on the top of my foot. And it was EXCRUCIATING PAIN, making it difficult to sit for any period of time, and leaving me with very little sleep to speak of. I happened to be at EOOC for an appointment with Dr. Mauerman, and when he noticed that I winced while sitting, he recommended that I set up a visit with Dr. Ahmadinia to get it looked at. Best advice I've been given in a long time! Dr. Ahmadinia initially recommended that we try an epidural steroid injection to alleviate the pain, advising that it works for some and not for others. Unfortunately, I happened to be one of the 'others', but hey, we gave it a shot! (no pun intended) It was then that Dr. Ahmadinia sat with me and discussed the next step, a surgical procedure call minimally invasive spine surgery, or MISS. He explained the broad aspects of the procedure, and even took the time to draw it on the exam table paper in the clinic - very impressive! I enthusiastically said "YES", and the surgery was scheduled that morning. Now for those of you who break out in a cold sweat when they hear the words "back surgery", let me rest your fears with this surgery timeline:

8:00 a.m. - arrived at Surgical Hospital of Oklahoma for pre-op stuff
9:00 a.m. - on the gurney headed for surgery
10:30 a.m. - out of surgery and in recovery
11:00 a.m. - after I snap out of the anesthesia fog, the attending nurse tells me to "go ahead and sit up and then stand up". And after my initial nervousness, I swing my legs over the side of the table, and when I stand up, the PAIN IN MY LEG IS GONE! I mean, it was truly unbelievable, and then when she said to walk a bit, and I do, and it doesn't hurt. It was almost indescribable!
12:00 p.m. -  headed for home, with the only remnant of the surgery being an incision in my back of less than one inch!!!

Here it is, two weeks post-op, and I have had no residual pain to speak of, and have started to 'reclaim my active life'... under doctor's orders, of course. All in all, I can tell you that Dr. Ahmadinia and the MISS procedure are remarkable, and thank him for getting me back on the right track!" - Matt W.

Dr Ahmadinia always assured me and talked to me in layman's term and made me feel very confident in all of his decisions to do with my surgery. "I was having severe pain down my hip and leg. Dr. Ahmadinia showed me my x-ray and explained to me what was causing the pain and told me he thought he could help. That was the first time that I had a concerned doctor that made me feel comfortable with surgery. I was in the hospital for three days and up walking the first day. The pain going down my leg was gone and I have continued to get better every day! Thank you Dr. Ahmadinia." - James R.

"My experience with EOOC has been the best anyone could ever ask for. The doctors there are the best in their fields. I have been to this place on three different occasions and each time I was completely satisfied with the treatment I received. I have had both my shoulders worked on as well as my back. I would not hesitate at all to go back if I have any more problems with any part of my body. The staff is just as wonderful as the doctors. They never keep you waiting and always do their best to make sure you are getting the care you need. My back surgery had me scared at first because I had heard the many horror stories about these procedures going wrong, but after Dr. Ahmadinia explained the procedure in detail to me, I left his office feeling sure it would go well. As expected, it did! I woke up with the pain I had had to live with for the last year completely gone. I would recommend anyone to go see these guys for any problem they may have. I now have my life back and can do the things I use to do without pain! Thank you EOOC." - Brandon W.

"I have suffered from a herniated disc for 5+ years. I had a total of four epidurals, which would last about a year. Finally, this summer, the epidural quit working. So I decided to look at other options. My primary doctor recommended Dr. Ahmadinia, so I made an appointment to see him. He decided the best thing for me was a microdisectomy. I was very concerned about surgery, and was a nervous wreck on that day!! The procedure was done July 29th, at Oklahoma Surgical Hospital as outpatient. When I got up to walk, the pain was gone! I got home around noon that day, and was up that afternoon. Two weeks later, I feel amazing! The incision is about 1 inch, and I had some very minor discomfort from that, but it was short lived. I have some minor tingling still in my leg, but that too is starting to go away! I have some minor restrictions for another four weeks, but I wish I had this done 5 years ago!! Dr. Ahmadinia, Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center, the staff, Oklahoma Surgical Hospital, and all their employees were excellent!! Thank you Dr. A!" -- Tamara C.

"I am 35 years old, and have suffered from lower back pain due to degenerative discs and a bulging disc for the past 5 years. Recently, the bulging disc herniated, and I was experiencing debilitating pain and could barely walk. A friend of mine had great things to say about Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center. I took his advice and set an appointment. Dr. Ahmadinia did a great job of listening to me and diagnosing my issue. He offered me a couple of options to address my problem, and walked me through the process. Ultimately, I needed to have surgery to remove the piece of disc that had broken off and was causing all of my pain. Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center was able to schedule my surgery in less than two weeks. Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center and Oklahoma Surgical Hospital were both very thorough in explaining everything that I needed to be prepared for, and provided me with both pre- and postoperative instructions and schedules. The day of the surgery, I went in that morning and was back home early that afternoon. With help from my wife, I was up and walking by late that afternoon. The next morning, I realized that while I was in pain, the debilitating pain that had been shooting into my hips and down my left leg was completely gone. Between the great job that Dr. Ahmadinia and the hospital staff did with the surgery and following the recovery instructions, I have made a better than expected recovery so far. Within two weeks, I have been able to go back to work. While I still have a ways to go with my recovery, I feel better than I have in years and know that I am on track to have an active lifestyle once again. I am so grateful to Dr. Ahmadinia, Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center, and the Oklahoma Surgical Hospital for everything that they have done for me." -- Gary G.

"From the age of 19 and on, I've had problems with back pain. I took medication, rested as advised, went to physical therapy, and saw a chiropractor, but it always got better until the next flare up. The last 2 years had been constant daily pain, even taking a shower was excruciating. There wasn't much quality of life I was experiencing at that point.  I saw Dr. Ahmadinia in March 2014. He was the first doctor to ever see I had fractured vertebrae, which had gone unnoticed for many years. After much procrastination on my part, I went ahead and scheduled surgery in June 2014.  Within a few days of surgery, I was up and walking like a normal person, very different from the 80-year-old pregnant lady gait I was used to, and felt better than I had in years!  It's been less than 8 weeks since my life changing surgery, and I couldn't have hoped to receive any better care than I did with Dr. Ahmadinia, nor be any happier with how fantastic I feel today. It was one of the best decisions of my life. Thank you, Dr. Ahmadinia for giving me back my quality of life. My husband says thank you for giving him back his wife too.  :)" -- Beverely S.

I was able to resume walking and taking walks daily.  I have nothing bad to say about my experience.  I went both times to the Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Clinic and was taken care of each time very well.  Now I have back problems and Dr. Ahmadinia is going to do the surgery on it Dec 9th.  I will be going back to the Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Clinic once again to have this done.  I am hoping for the same results that I had with both knees.  I can’t wait till I am able to resume my life again." -- Beverly K.
